The Pravara River originates in the Western Ghats at an altitude of about 1,067 m. After traversing a distance of about 200 km in the easterly direction it falls into the Godavari River near Newasa at an altitude of about 457 m. The Mula River is the right bank tributary of Pravara River. The drainage area of the Pravara River is 6,537 km2 lying entirely in Maharashtra, but its principal source of supply is only about 32 km length of the Western Ghats.
